Community, giving back and helping those less fortunate are fundamental parts of the Balega brand. Embodying these values, Balega is proud to launch a limited edition collection of Hidden Comfort socks to benefit the Lesedi Project, Balega’s non-profit organization and give-back initiative to strengthen South African and American communities.
Lesedi, meaning “Light and Enlightenment,” is a project Balega spearheaded back in 2004 partnering with the Ethembeni School, home to disabled and visually impaired children from predominantly rural areas of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Through the Lesedi Project, Balega is offering an annual scholarship program to aid students with their education. Proceeds from sales of these limited edition socks are benefiting the Ethembeni Scholarship Fund.
Older Ethembeni school students are able to develop their cognitive and fine motor skills in a beadwork program that utilizes materials provided by Balega. These young learners, who face challenges many of us will never experience, are a constant reminder that with perseverance, consistency and a bit of patience anything is possible.
The Limited Edition Lesedi Hidden Comfort socks offer ultimate comfort for every activity; featuring Balega’s unique low-modulus elastane for a structured but non-restrictive fit, mesh construction for ventilation, and plush under-sole cushioning for extra protection. All limited edition styles will be sold with a matching beaded bracelet created by the children of the Ethembeni School, and are offered in six new styles of fun patterns and vibrant colors.
Join us in making a difference by helping the life of a disadvantaged child with every purchase of the Lesedi limited-edition Hidden Comfort styles. Head to your local specialty retailer or pick up a pair online!
